What to Expect

Thank you for trusting Sentirsi Counseling to support your child’s emotional growth and healing. Therapy is a space designed to center your child’s voice, experience, and development. While I welcome collaboration and communication with parents and caregivers, the therapeutic relationship is focused on the individual minor. This means that sessions are held privately, and updates are shared in a way that respects your child’s autonomy and emotional safety.

Privacy and Mandated Reporting

Most of what your child shares in therapy remains confidential. This privacy helps build trust and allows them to speak openly without fear of judgment or punishment. As a licensed clinician, I am a mandated reporter. I am legally required to report any concerns related to:

• Serious risk of harm to self or others

• Abuse or neglect

• Situations where a child is not being kept safe

If a safety concern arises, I will make every effort to speak with your child first and involve you in the next steps when appropriate.

Encouraging Communication

I encourage you to share observations, concerns, and questions with me. While I may not be able to disclose everything your child shares, I value your input and will offer general updates about progress, themes we’re working on, and ways you can support your child outside of session. Please remember that even the most communicative children sometimes forget to share the things we wish they would. Therapy offers a space where those thoughts and feelings can surface safely.

Attendance and Responsibility

Unless otherwise discussed and documented, parents and guardians are responsible for ensuring their child attends scheduled sessions. Children and teens are still learning how to manage time, follow through, and prioritize their well-being. It is our role as adults to help them show up for the support they need. Missed appointments may be subject to fees in accordance with the attendance policy.

Telehealth Environment

To protect your child’s privacy and ensure the effectiveness of therapy, please confirm that your child has access to a quiet, private space during telehealth sessions. This space should be free from distractions, interruptions, and background noise. If privacy is a concern, I’m happy to help brainstorm solutions that work for your home environment.
